Sam Sorensen





Biography

For over Fifty years, Sam Sorensen has involved himself in every form of music imaginable.


He has composed for feature films, including the Sony/Westwind feature film "Party Line" (starring Richard Roundtree), Bettencourt Entertainment Group feature film "The Naked Eye" directed by James Dean Schulte, and most recently the short film "Seductive Affair" directed by Victor Picena. His original music has been heard on the TV shows NBC's "The Today Show", "Animal Planet", "Guiding Light", "Inside Edition", "Roc", "Lifestyles Of The Rich And Famous", CNN, "Runaway With The Rich & Famous", "American Journal", "Rolanda", "History Of Rock & Roll", as well as many TV shows world wide. He is also the composer and arranger of music used on Princess & Family Cruise Lines, and various theme parks, industrials & commercials.
He has been commissioned to write and record numerous orchestral pieces by the Boosey & Hawkes music library.

He's presently performing / recording various independent projects.

He has performed as a pianist and keyboardist for films and television, and has played & recorded with many artists and celebrities including Smokey Robinson, Tina Marie, Barry Gordy, Rita Coolidge, Jody Watley, Frank Zappa, Steve Vai, Vinnie Colaiuta, Joe Farrell, John Davidson, Bill Cosby, and Ike Turner, & musical director for the DeCastro Sisters ("Teach Me Tonight") in the mid 70's. He has produced many independent albums and projects. He is the pianist on many of the titles in the Yamaha Disklavier and PianoDisc's catalogue. He has performed in many musical productions, including Oliver!, Three Penny Opera, Honk, etc. and has been a musical performance consultant in various films, including Laurence Fishburne's "What's Love Got To Do With It?"

Sam has contracted and led big bands, orchestras and choirs, as well as produced a wide variety of musical shows for countless corporate events. He also plays trumpet. He's also taught concert band and various music classes in elementary, high school & college levels.

Born in Inglewood, California, Sorensen grew up in Southern California. (more)
